MSI GF63

MSI GF63 Thin i5 10500h Full Detailed Review

Look this is a book, Every book has a cover. and someone has said, Never judge a book by its cover. I don’t know who said that but this line is very true. So, Let’s keep the storytime aside. Today I have MSI GF63 thin, It is a gaming laptop from GF series but it is a thin laptop. Today, I will review this and today you will get to know various things. And remember, Never judge a book by its cover. Let’s unbox its cover. You will get a brown box Inside it, There will be a black box of MSI. And here “TRUE GAMING” in mentioned. They meant to say do gaming by heart, Don’t call yourself a gamer if you play PUBG or BGMI BGMI lovers, Don’t unsubscribe. I am sorry. Here is our laptop in transparent packing. You will get 1 power cord, Some manuals, And an HDD slot clip in the manual packet, And a 120W power adapter. Have a look at its outers.
I like this thing very much! Satisfaction! OP level. This is our laptop. Let me tell you the specifications first. It comes with an I5 10th GEN (10500H) processor with 6 cores and 12 threads The 10300H processor has 4 cores and 8 threads. So make sure you keep this in mind. It has RTX 3050 GPU with 40W TGP. Heyy, Don’t leave the video without watching the performance section, You might be thinking we don’t want GPU with 40W TGP but wait. It comes with 8 GB RAM of 2933 MHz clock speed, A 512 GB PCIe GEN 3 SSD, WiFi 6 and Bluetooth version 5.1 I had a small incident with this laptop. I talked to MSI regarding GF65, They said we want to send GF65. But there was some confusion due to which GF63 has arrived. After looking at its specifications, I decided I won’t review this. Then I thought to test this once and then make the review. But I was wrong. It also comes in a variant of I7+3050. I will give its link in the description. Now let’s talk about the laptop. Talking about the build and outers, The top lid is made of metal with MSI branding on it. The top lid flex is negligible as it’s made of metal. The interior of the laptop also comes in a metal finish. Keyboard flex is also negligible. You can see the bottom lid It is looking very beautiful and the vents are present here. They have tried to give it a gaming look, at the same time they have tried to make it a thin laptop. Don’t get confused after looking at the vents that why this part is open and this is completely closed Because it has single fan module heat sync. These are the 2 out vents. Its weight is 1.84 KGs, Usually gaming laptops weigh 2.2,2.4 and even 2.5 KGs. It’s just 1.84 KGs. It is not very light but considering it is a gaming laptop and it has an H series processor, it is very light. And this laptop is 21.7 mm thick. It has a 15.6 inches IPS level display with a 144 Hz refresh rate, 45% NTSC which equals 67-68% of sRGB and 250 NITS brightness Some people ask what is IPS and what is IPS level? The IPS level display can’t be considered an exact TN panel or an exact IPS panel.
It is somewhere in between. Nowadays, You will get this display in a lot of laptops. The reason behind using IPS level display is that you get a display with a higher refresh rate at cheap price. And its viewing angles and clarity are the same as an IPS panel. Its internal display output is connected to the IGPU. HDMI’s output is also connected to the IGPU. And there is no display output through the Type C port. Now, Let’s have a look at its ports. On the left side, You get a USB 3.2 Type-A port, 1 power input port and an air exhaust vent. On the right side, 1 headphone and 1 mic jack, 2 USB 3.2 Type-A ports, 1 Type C 3.2 port, 1 RJ45 port and a Kensington lock. On the backside, you get an HDMI port and an air exhaust vent. Talking about the keyboard, It comes with a single color backlight keyboard with red color backlight. It is a 15.6 inches laptop, Still it doesn’t have a full-sized keyboard. So, there is extra space on the left and right side and the buttons are big in size. Due to bigger buttons, The typing experience becomes amazing. The trackpad is slightly small but I don’t use trackpad I prefer using a separate mouse with the laptop. I used the trackpad and there were no issues while using. This is its webcam and mic test. I am standing at a distance of 2 feet from the laptop. As always the fan is running at 2 speed. So, you will get an idea of the mic quality. Tell me how was the quality of its webcam. Listen to a sound sample also. I have a small doubt, It has 2W speakers and all the other brands also provide 2W speakers. So, how do MSI laptops always sound louder? The speakers are very loud, I also have an MSI laptop GL63. Its speakers are also very loud and MSI laptops have never disappointed me in terms of speakers. It comes with Nahimic audio software to enhance your sound experience. And it also has MSI dragon center It has different modes. Extreme performance, Balanced, SIlent, Super battery, User.
Here you will get some general settings Windows key option, Display overdrive and as this laptop doesn’t have a webcam slider, You can turn the webcam off here And you can also turn it off with f6 which is its shortcut. Rest, these are the CPU and GPU stats if you want to do the monitoring. Now, Let me tell you about its upgradability. Today I don’t have its disassembled picture neither I was allowed to disassemble it. This variant has 1 SSD slot that is occupied with 512 GB SSD, 1 HDD slot that is free, You can insert the Hard disk later In terms of RAM, It has 2 slots out of which 1 is occupied with 8 GB RAM and you can expand it to a maximum of 64 GB. So, You can add 2 32 GB sticks in dual channel to upgrade it to 64 GB. That is the key highlight of this laptop, Even some more powerful laptops than this support a maximum of 32 GB RAM. This is supporting 64 GB. Taling about its battery, it has a 51 Whr battery. And I set it to 60 Hz to check its backup Enabled the battery saver mode, Turned off the Keyboard backlight And the screen brightness was 50%. I did software installation, Web browsing, and ran Youtube. In that, I got 4.5-5 hours of battery backup. You can get a maximum backup of 7 hours depending on your usage. My usage was slightly extreme, I did software installation which consumer more CPU. Rest, In terms of backup, it didn’t disappoint me. Now let’s talk about the performance. I did the Cinebench R23 test in this, The multicore score was 6958 and the single-core score was 1170 points. In Geekbench 5, Multicore score was 5143 and the single-core score was 1162 points. Cinebench R23 and Geekbench 5 are CPU scores.
So, If we compare the CPU performance of 11500H The performance is somewhat similar to Ryzen 5 4600H. So, The CPU is good. Intel has upgraded 10500H, It’s a 6 core CPU and the performance is also better. In the 3D mark time spy test, The total score was 4000 points out of which GPU score was 3896 and CPU score was 4715. Now let me tell you what all can you do in this. 1080P extreme level editing, I have edited in a laptop with Ryzen 5 4600H and I have edited in this laptop as well the experience is really smooth on 1080P, You can edit basic 4K videos. Your timeline will start lagging with multilayers. As this is a high performance and a thin laptop at the same time. So, College and school students will be attracted the most towards it So, If you want it for college work. You can buy it. You can do anything in it as the processor is powerful You can do multi tasking, Store study materials easily in this. For college students, You can easily do coding and run apps like Android studio. Rest, you can run C++ and Java easily. And for graphics designers, If you purchase this variant, you have to upgrade the RAM to at least 16 GB. With RTX 3050 and a 6 core processor, you can do medium-level work. But for extreme level you will need a more powerful machine Streamers asked many questions related to single PC stream. From now, I will do streaming test in all the laptops So, Have a look at the streaming after that we will do the gaming test. I am using OBS studio for the streaming test and my stream is already running. You can see my phone on the left side. These are my streaming settings. I have set the base as well as the output resolution to 1080P. And it is a 1080P 60 FPS stream. And I am using Game capture not display capture, I recommend Game capture to all those who do single PC stream.
Don’t use display capture. Let me show you a live sample. Currently, I am using game capture. You can see the FPS. I am getting around 60-70 FPS and the gameplay is very smooth. And it is a single PC stream, You can see the stream on the phone. And if I use display capture in place of game capture. OBS studio and all the other activities of my PC will be visible on the stream. And you can see the FPS is also decreased from 60-70 to 40-50. So, Use game capture for better output. You can see the Offstream and Onstream comparison of GTA V. In offstream, I am getting 70-80 FPS while in Onstream I am getting 60-70 FPS. The difference is not significant but the FPS drops down by 10-15 during a single PC stream. This is our Valorant, In Onstream, I am getting 80-90 FPS. While in Offstream I get approximately 130-140 FPS But in onstream the FPS is between 80-90 FPS. After that, I thought to play Warzone. I am getting 60-70 FPS Onstream while in Offstream, I am getting 80+ FPS. If you have any laptop and you want to do a single PC stream, I would recommend a 6 core processor and a GPU with 4 GB VRAM. You can see there will be a difference of 10-15 FPS. I included these 3 games for the streaming test. If you want any other game you can tell me in the comments section. Now comes the most crucial part that is gaming, Everyone would be curious about the 40W 3050 GPU. Watch the gaming test, Then we’ll talk about the conclusion. First of all, I played Valorant on high settings and the match was unrated. In Valorant, Performance varies in different matches Sometimes, The performance is the same in same match because it depends on the server. You can see, Currently, I am getting 130-140 FPS and the CPU and GPU temperatures are very low. And notice one thing, As soon as the CPU temperature reaches 70-75, The clock speed decreases And the reason is that because it’s is a thin gaming laptop and it has a single fan module. So, they have locked its temperature So that it doesn’t rise too much otherwise it could lead to some issues. But there is no issue with the performance.
Gameplay is very smooth as you can see. And the GPU is not used much as it’s a CPU intensive game. So, The overall the performance is good and optimized Then I tested Battlefield 5 in this on medium settings, And you can see I am getting 55-60 FPS easily. It is a 3050 graphics card with 4 GB VRAM and that too with 40W TGP but the performance is one-sided. GPU temperature has reached 80+ degrees but there is no throttling issue. Rest, You can see the CPU temperature As soon as it reaches 75-76 degrees the CPU clock speed decreases and the temperature again decreases This thing is to optimize the temperatures. So, There is nothing to worry Because the performance we are getting is amazing. Then I tested warzone and I forgot to show the settings in Warzone, But the settings were recommended that is a mixture of medium and high. And the DLSS was on And I am getting 70-80 FPS easily. So, the gameplay is very smooth and I wasn’t expecting that. I thought it will give maximum 40-50 FPS But it has outperformed. Now I believe that don’t trust the numbers, Trust the performance. Then I tested Assassin’s Creed Valhalla on medium settings, And I am getting 55-60 FPS on medium settings. You can have a look at the stats. Then I tested GTA V on recommended settings that is a mixture of Very high and high. And in GTA V I was getting 80+ FPS within the city. I didn’t expect this. The average FPS was approximately 70 And this is unexpected from a 40W 3050 in which even the CPU clock speed is not used properly just because of the temperature optimization. Still, the performance is brilliant. MSI just blew my mind Then I tested Red dead redemption 2 on a balanced preset that is the lowest balanced preset because it is a 4GB graphics card On increasing the preset, It crosses the VRAM. And in 3050, Red dead redemption gives approximately 50-55 FPS. But I didn’t expect that a 40W GPU will give the same performance. But the overall performance of the laptop is very good. Have a look at its test. Then I tested Farcry 5 on ultra preset and I was easily getting 60-65 FPS.
The gameplay was smooth and the performance was awesome Rest, I won’t repeat the stats. You can see them on the screen. Then I tested CyberPunk on medium settings and the DLSS was set to auto. And the performance was outstanding I was getting approximately 45-50 FPS and at times 55+ also. I was shocked by the performance and you can see the stats GPU consumption is going to a maximum of 40W, And the CPU usage is in front of you. After that, The setting was the same (medium preset) and I enabled the RTX on medium preset itself. And still, I am getting 30+ FPS and 30 FPS in story games are considered playable. So, I am totally satisfied with the laptop’s performance. If you are somewhat more than a casual gamer, This laptop can be a good choice for you. You saw the performance? Numbers are not everything If somebody asks me to choose better numbers Vs better performance. I will say better performance until I test it. You guys ask me about a lot of laptops. Previously, I used to recommend a laptop by looking at the specifications. I won’t say it after today. I won’t recommend until I review them. Now, You might be thinking whether we should buy this laptop or not. Its cost is approximately 85,000 on Flipkart but it is coming soon it is not available yet. It is going to launch soon. So, I will if you want to do casual gaming and all the high ends task that I told you in the performance section You can definitely buy this, I will say it is a good choice.
Just like Intel Evo laptops cost 1.5 lakhs If we compare it with other laptops having better specifications, This laptop is obviously expensive. But it weighs 1.86 KGs You have to keep that in mind. And the last question is about the service of MSI. I will say every brand’s service varies from city to city. Some brands have the best service in some city whereas the same brand have the worst service in some other city. You can read the reviews on google. Negative and positive reviews are available for each and every brand. One more thing regarding the warranty, MSI offers 2 year warranty and you have to go to the service center if you face some issue And their Onsite warranty is also coming very soon in which a technician visits your house and repairs it at your home if possible. Otherwise, he takes it and then drop it back to your home after repairing. That was the review of this laptop. Hopefully, you would have liked the video I will see you in the next interesting video Till then BYE
