Guys, in the Apple launch event in February, they announced 4 things. And the thing with me right now, in this bag that we got from Apple. And I am the most excited about it. Do you know why? Because we can finally say value-for-money for this Apple product. Yes, I am talking about the Apple Mac Mini. It starts from ₹59,999. ₹59,900. Which means that comes under ₹60,000. And this is one powerful machine. If I talk about Mac Mini’s then we have the previous year version, too. This is on the M1 chipset. Its base variant is M2 but we have the M2 Pro. It also has M2 Max. They had announced these two chipsets: M2 Pro and M2 Max. But we also have the beast. This one is Mac Studio. It had come last year on M1 Ultra. And it is a super duper powerful machine. Guys, if you had to buy a Mac Mini till now you could have taken this one. It was for a good price but not that powerful. You can take this super powerful one but its price is abnormally high. It means that normal people cannot afford it. For them, this is here.
2023’s Mac Mini with M2 chipset. We’ll do its unboxing and first impressions. We’ll tell everything. So what can you do on it, if you give ₹60,000 for this? Let’s find out. Right up front is the Apple logo and it looks exactly the same. There are differences but, okay, this is the old one, this is the new one. What more is there in the box, let’s see. There is documentation with ‘Mac Mini’ written. Oh, and there’s stickers. Yeah, if you want stickers, there are stickers. And you have this power cable. That’s about it, guys. There is nothing else in the box. Since there’s nothing else let’s keep these aside. Let’s keep this aside. This is the old one and this is the new one. The colour is also exactly the same. Mac Mini. Alright, let me keep it like this. And this is the old one. There sure are differences, guys. So, in the new one, guys, there is a power port, obviously, and an RJ45. This is 1GB port but if you want 10GB then you can pay ₹10,000 extra. And then there are four thunderbolt ports. This one only had too and this one has four. And then you have an HDMI port which was there in the old also. And then you have 2 USB type-A ports and a 3.5mm jack. And this is a big vent for hot air to come outside. By the way, guys, this is the pro variant. We had brought the base variant which hasn’t arrived yet. But you only get two thunderbolt ports in the base variant. By the way, guys, if you want to use high-end 8K monitor, these thunderbolt ports support that. Let’s quickly do the weight.
The difference should be hardly 10g, not more than that. Let’s see. This is the old one’s weight. 1179g. This one would be more by 20-30g, in my opinion. 1210g? Oh, 1280g which means the difference is 100g. So, it has gotten heavy by 100g. And why has it become heavy? Because there are some changes inside. If I talk about the chipset, that is the biggest change. Alright, we’ll talk about its base variant. Because I am excited about that. Guys, if I talk about its architecture, it comes on M2 chipset. It has an 8-core CPU and 10-core GPU. It has 8GB RAM and 256 GB storage. And I’ll tell you what. If I compare it with M1 then it has gotten 35-40% improvement in performance. If I talk about transistors, they are 20% more as compared to M1. So, about 40 billion transistors have been added. It is 5nm so it is very power efficient. This was the base variant but if you want to take the pro variant, that is, Mac Mini Pro. That supports up to 32GB RAM. And the top variant, M2 Max, supports up to 96GB RAM. 96GB RAM. If I talk about the storage then the base variant goes up to 512GB. But if you take the Pro or Max then you get 8TB storage. 8TB. Remember that when you buy the Mac Mini, you get this and the power cord and nothing else. So, you will need a display and, obviously, a mouse and keyboard. If you buy that of Apple then you know what it costs.
Now let’s talk about the performance, who should buy it and why I was excited guys. I’ll tell you what, 8GB RAM 256GB storage with M2 chipset is an excellent proposition for creators. Especially, if you’re in graphic designing, absolutely fantastic. You can do anything easily. If you want to do heavy graphics editing, you can do that. Even video editing, you should be able to do it easily. It will do full HD 1080p editing with eyes closed. Even 4K to a certain extent, it’ll happen. But if you take Pro or Max, you can do proper video editing. Proper means smooth without any issues. But I want to say something, if you are thinking of buying this base variant. Then take the base variant of 8GB RAM 256GB storage. Don’t go for 512GB since there is a difference of ₹20,000. So for 256GB, you are giving extra ₹20,000. Instead of that, you can get a good SSD for ₹10k-12k. That’ll be much more useful. In fact, you will get a 1TB SSD. Use that and that should be good. Now, let’s see the total cost because our viewers want to know how much it will cost if I buy this. Basically, you can get a good monitor of ₹15k-20k.
₹5K for when you buy a wireless keyboard and mouse. And then ₹10k for your extra 1TB storage. So, you’ll have to add ₹25k-30k. Your whole system would be ready in about ₹90,000. And for that price, you will get the power, and obviously, the Apple ecosystem and updates. It is also future proof to a large extent. According to that, I’ll definitely say, this is value-for-money. Like I said before, we don’t associate that with Apple products. We associate the brand value. With this, I think, this Mac Mini will attract many people. Especially to the creators. If I am talking about the updates, you get Mac OS Ventura out-of-the-box. If I tell you about the connectivity, it has been upgraded. You get Wi-Fi 6E and the latest Bluetooth 5.3. So, a big thumbs up. By the way, there is an interesting thing. It doesn’t look like there are speakers in this. But there are and they work fine. There are. Let me show you another interesting thing. Let’s stack them on top of each other. If you see the size, it is exactly the same. Looks like a single thing. That’s what Apple products look like. Just look at that. The finish and quality is crazy good. Crazy good.
